Long-range hand-held candid portrait of a Red-Breasted Merganser, the droplets of ice formed from his last dive, and his reflection in the water, to keep him company! The air temperature was 14 F/-10 C, and the river everywhere apart from below the dam (here) was frozen 6 inches/150 mm.
