Since 2009, Hybrid Photography pioneer Giulio Sciorio has been blending still + motion & sound with his photography. Giulio took notice of where the photographic industry was headed and began to design a system to utilize every element of a modern camera in his artistic creations.

Giulio Sciorio thinks of his hybrid photographic style as applying layers of art––exploring the relationship between still and motion, silence and sound––and in this alchemy of elements discovering all the places that visual art lives.

Lumix Luminary, photographer, educator and social media personality, Giulio’s vision is to demonstrate how embracing new technology can transform and enrich visual art in the age of screens.

1. When and why did you get started in photography?

I started shooting in 1993 when a close friend was killed in a car accident and I inherited his camera. I realized then that we never had a single photograph together, I’ve been trying to fill the void ever since.

2. Who is your photography roll model and why?

My photography roll models change over time as I grow and depending on what I’m into at the current time. Some of my favorite photographers are Greg Williams, Bob Richardson and Alfred Stieglitz when he was into Straight Photography which I practice for my own work.

3. Tips for emerging photographers?

Learn photography not your camera. Slow down and spend time seeing not just looking. Write down with pen and paper what you see in detail. When working with people be clear in your communication (direction) to your subject as to what you need. Make your shot in the camera. Spend more time creating strong imagery in camera rather then fixing mistakes in post. Shoot video, capture audio mix it into something new. Dump your DLSR.
