“For my choice of winner I have selected this beautiful portrayal of a fairground for its unusual depiction of a commonly photographed subject. In this example the often overused ‘instagram’ colouration has worked perfectly creating a delicate perception of the structures. The perceived front elevation of shapes, coils, towers and circles capture the fairground in an architectural sense revealing the location as a lonely and surreal place. The leading line of the ocean wave draws the eye to the subject while the background of heavenly skies enhances the feeling of loneliness and vulnerability as the subject sits isolated between ocean and sky.” – Karl

Congratulations to wyoming22 the People’s Choice and winner of the year of ViewBug PRO with photo Santa Monica Pier

Trains Photo Contest Winners!

A big thank you to our friends at Tripad for their collaboration in this photo contest and our judges compliments to all participants for the extraordinary work shared in this competition.

Also, a special mention to professional photographer Holly Broomhall for selecting the following winners:

Congratulations to photosbychrisellis winner of the Tripad with photo Country Journey

“Beautiful atmosphere, soft and warm…the whole scene really takes you somewhere else. I’m sure most people that view this image will have a movie in mind, or book they’ve read that can relate to this image, which is why I think it’s so special. Your eye really jumps to the train too with the bright headlight piercing through the muted tones around it. You can almost feel the soft breeze and movement of the trees with that soft focus and crisp detail…a gorgeous cinematic image!” – Holly

Congratulations to Honorary Mention paulmullin with photo Ode To The Railroad

“A very strong image, both powerful and sad at the same time. The perspective gives a strength, that contrasts nicely with the softness of the golden sky, and the lonely feeling of the single train carriage. The colours and detail are lovely, and the snow is a great added element too. Beautiful atmosphere!” – Holly

Congratulations to francis_lee the People’s Choice and winner of the Tripad with photo Train
