.....um, yes that is my arm ...the origin of the snake and medicine is based on the story that Ave Sina ( Ebn e Sina) the great Persian doctor realized mice are the source of plague and snakes can eat mice to prevent it. He advised people to have a snake and keep a glass of wine along its way to enhance the strength of its venom. That’s how a snake wrapped around a full glass became the symbol of fight against sickness. In Persian the word for snake is “maar” and for sick is “ bi-maar” which literally means “ without snake
