Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken at a farm in Sloan, Nevada. The showgirls were there for a mini movie about a cowgirl who turned into a showgirl. I was there with my camera to document the activities before the gig started, during the shoot, and then after. These two beauties were performers in the now-closed Las Vegas Production Show Jubilee at Bally's Hotel and Casino.

Time

This shoot started very early with the showgirls already dressed and ready to go. Sloan is a quiet little place in Nevada. It was to be a quick shoot because of the hot weather.

Lighting

Totally shot this image with daylight only, no need for a fill-flash at this time.

Equipment

I did not need my tripod nor flash. I used my Canon 60D with an Aperture 9/1, ISO 160, Shutter 1/400, and my ?Focal Length 30/1. I experimented with many settings but captured this one with my 2nd camera on the set.

Inspiration

What inspired me was how seeing showgirls on a ranch, posing by a horse saddle and their wooden fence was definitely something no one else thought about doing. Now that the show is closed, this is a treasured photo for all involved.

Editing

I may have done a cropping but other than that I did not do any post-processing.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Canon 60D and 50D (but I lost my 50D and the card on another shoot in Zion). I took my on-camera flash, lens cleaner clothes along with a couple extra SD cards. This was a fun shoot because I also took my 1951 hot pink Chevy custom pickup truck. The truck was used for the elderly woman who was the cowgirl who turned out to be a showgirl. She was about 80 years old.

Feedback

Advise - take any and every unique opportunity and turn it into a grand adventure. Trust yourself to get what you see in your head. Also, coming to Las Vegas to see real showgirls would help. Thank you all!
