Fine Art Architectural Detail Abstract photography. In simple terms , this is a study of an arc of stone bricks within an arched wall focusing on the play of light and shadow it creates at a certain time in the day. Walls often appear mundane or uninteresting unless we are concentrating on the grand structures they create , or the more vibrant and complicated patterns that have been intricately designed into their architecture. Yet, a single point on a simple wall can have and produce its own unique beauty, and a variety of relaxing perspectives dependent on the time of day that you choose to watch it. Watching walls , therefore , in more complex terms , can become an infinite, yet calming influence upon the mind of an artist or photographer. Many of us miss that beauty until we stop to take the time to try to rest our minds and take a break from the overwhelming inspiration to our creativity in the world around us. This particular wall is one of my favourites , and is probably hardly ever featured in a piece of art or a photograph even though the building itself is photographed by thousands of people every month of the year, as it is the wall behind the arched , lakeside folly in the world famous Bodnant Estate in Conwy, North Wales , UK. I watch the time on it quite regularly , however, as I take a break to sit in a quiet spot away from the garden bustle and the infinite amount of subjects and views that would otherwise prevent me from taking a moment to relax and find my direction. The changing shadows , like a sundial , helping me to relax and clear my mind before the next big adventure, sat on a wall, behind a building , catching the beauty that is otherwise away from view.
