Today has been a truly grey day. Fortunately I knew where all the colour had fled to; The days preceding sunset.

Here is part 2 from yesterdays sunset at Hengistbury Head.

I spent a lot of time on this photo, being stuck in my head, about what to do and how best to present it, without any focal points in the photo it derived down to a use of colour... and this got me thinking.

A lot of people including myself some times think that Photoshop and lightroom have taken a certain amount of skill out of photography, and from somebody still shooting on film they would be right, But this is the 21st century and Digital SLR cameras have made their mark. Photoshop is our darkroom, and today I realised that the incredible amount of control over the photograph we have today does not take away from creativity, it can only ever ADD to it!

I found myself drowning in adjustments, not sure what to do next. thinking I had overdone the photo but I was wrong. I was trying to make my photo from the mind, finding the 'right' way to finish the photo, and what kind of Art is 'right'? There is no such thing as 'Right' In my mind it's almost the complete opposite!

I vindicated my thoughts that the creative individual will always find a way through the logical, disciplined 21st Century, no matter the medium.. Canvas, or digital screen.

Wherever there is potential to create, that space will assuredly be filled, for Nature abhors a vacuum...
