Nice shots of the butterflys, I think that taking the time to identify your butterflies is very helpful and informative, Thanks.

the lighting was good , some shadow from trees behind the subjects which were well lit from slightly behind.Equipment
Olympus E620 hand held with a digital ED 12?60mm 1:2.8?4.0 SWD lens at 2.8 to give the minimum depth of field. No flash and no filters.Inspiration
The weather was warm and there were a number of butterflies feeding along the river bank. I wanted to get a close photo of a Green Veined White butterfly and the front one was feeding for some time on these small flower heads.. I took several images and then I saw another butterfly coming ever closer. I waited and as it flitted past slowly I took the shot and captured it. Magic!Editing
The image was RAW so there was some minimal normalisation in Photoshop but otherwise no.In my camera bag
It depends, I have an Olympus XZ-1 f1.8 compact camera with an electronic viewfinder which I carry most times with me. If I am going on a photo shoot, I carry an Olympus OMD EM1 with several four thirds lenses and an adapter for my micro four thirds camera ... 35mm Macro, 25mm pancake a digital ED 12?60mm 1:2.8?4.0 SWD Olympus ED 50?200mm 1:2.8?3.5 SWDFeedback
Be patient try out your settings to get the optimum light on a wide aperture and ensure the focus is right then squeeze the shutter slowly and follow through, don't snatch at the button. take several photos.
