📍 Porth Nanven 🌊☀️🌊

Sunset at Porth Nanven, St Just - known for it's large granite boulders resembling dinosaur eggs!

Setting up the tripod for this shot wasn't at all easy. As I stood in the boulder-strewn stream with water rushing around my wellies, the tripod legs struggled to grip the smooth surface of the sweeping foreground rock.

I managed framed this shot to clip the sun with the curved rock - creating the sun-star effect.

I opted not to use a Neutral Density Grad Filter to control the brightness of the sky - as it would have also darkened the top of the foreground rock. Instead, I took bracketed exposures for HDR processing (although I try to processes my HDRs to not look like HDRs).

As the stream was moving so fast, a shutter speed of 1-5 second was enough to capture the movement of the water.

Canon 6D MkII | 24-105mm lens at 24mm | ƒ-16 | 1-5 sec | ISO 100 | Tripod | No filters | Bracketed exposures for HDR processing | Taken at Porth Nanven
