Location
This was taken back in November of 2020 at Monhonk Lake and near the Monhonk Mountain House resort, I was on the opposite side of the lake following Eagle cliff road trying to get to the scenic outlook before sunset.Time
This was taken around 4:00 pm late in the afternoon I decided to try to get another good photo of Sky Top Tower, and the hill it was on since there was a nice mix of fall colors with some green from the trees that still haven't changed yet. It just so happens the lighting conditions were perfect on that day so I was able to capture the fall colors reflected in the lake, and the people that were passing by on rowboats.Lighting
Would you believe me if I say it was just pure luck? that I was in the right place at the right time? Its all natural lighting and I happen to choose to go walk on Eagle Cliff road at the right time of day.Equipment
I only use a Canon Rebel T6i with the 18-55mm lens for this photo didn't have to put the camera on tripod.Inspiration
This is a part of my fall colors project I do every year, since the pandemic had canceled all my plans to travel to other locations in the United States. I decided to explore the local national parks in order to add to my portfolio, and inspire others to explore the national parks that are close to them cause you never know what you will find.Editing
I didn't have to do any editing or post-processing I just uploaded the original from my camera. In my camera bag
I tend to keep it simple I only carry around a Cannon Rebel T6i with its standard 18-55mm lens and I have a 55-255mm lens for photos of smaller subjects and animals. Since I am a rookie I didn't see the point of buying too much stuff that I might have to carry around and not use.Feedback
Do you research to see when the fall colors will start appearing in your national parks, and do some scouting of the location to see if the colors have start appearing yet. Then plan your route and keep an eye on the time if you want to take advantage of the natural lighting. So you don't have to do any post-processing or editing work to make the photo look better. Also double check your weather forecasts certain locations look better on a cloudy day and others on a clear day depending on the subject of your photoshoot.
