Location
At the Barron River, Kuranda near where I live in Queensland AustraliaTime
Taken at 5:30am first lightLighting
I wanted to use a mixture of both, natural light and some from the lantern.Equipment
My main camera for portraits and landscapes is a Canon 5DSr, I'm in love with the quality of the high mb. I prefer to shoot using my Canon prime lenses, 24,50 and 85mm lenses.Inspiration
Sheila, my muse in this image have done several shoots together. Our main aim is to tell a story and have the viewer ask themselves questions about what was happening.Editing
Yes the image was edited in PS, not a great deal was required. I lifted the highlights from the lantern and darkened the outer edges to emphasise the light of the lantern. In my camera bag
My Canon 5DSr, and my prime lenses are always in my bag. Also a ND variable filter is a must for me. If I'm shooting away from the studio I'll also take a speedlight just for fill if required.Feedback
What I enjoyed about this shoot and other collaborations with Sheila is the detailed preparation. The costume especially. Pre plan as best as you can so you can predict any issues before they arise. This will help immensely and takes the pressure off you as a photographer.
