Location
This photo was taken in Newfoundland, Canada. This little guy is one of four very photogenic Red Fox kits who I've watched grow up on the outskirts of a small fishing settlement.Time
I took this photo in the late evening on a warm day in August. Red Foxes are crepuscular animals most active near dawn and dusk, so there is a sweet spot during which it's late enough for them to be active, but bright enough for shots like this.Lighting
This photo was taken near golden hour, said to be one of the best times of day for photography. I remember feeling like the evening dragged on forever while the foxes were bathed in golden tones. This was one of the most magical shoots I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon Rebel T5, with the 75 - 300mm lens.Inspiration
Foxes are one of my favourite animals, and this was a rare glimpse in to the life of an adolescent Red Fox that not many people get to see. I wanted to capture the moment and share it with others who are as fascinated with wildlife as I am.Editing
I always touch up my photos in Adobe Lightroom. In this case, I rotated the photo to be more level, bumped up the contrast and saturation, and added a vignette around the fox.In my camera bag
I am a beginner, so my camera bag currently consists of my Canon Rebel T5, and my 18 - 55mm and 75 - 300mm lenses. I hope to expand my kit over the coming months.Feedback
Be patient! These animals are so elusive that it can be difficult to spot them; earning their trust and capturing their vulnerable moments is even more challenging, but so worth it when you finally snap that photo you've been waiting for.
