Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at a manor and the corridor had a large mirror on the wall that I used to capture this image, I love to use mirrors in my photographs

Time

This shoot look place at a manor in the cotswolds which was a fair drive from the Lake District. After a fair drive I arrived at 17:30 and the we got to work with multiple sets. This is one of my favourites. This photo was taken on 21st August 2020 at 18:56.

Lighting

I wanted to make the use of the natural light and the brightly coloured walls with the contrast of Rachelle posing against the wall and the reflection was too perfect to not capture it

Equipment

This was shot handheld with a Canon EOS-1D X with a 85mm f1.8 lens, no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

This image was inspired as I was getting my camera ready and I had an entirely different shot in my head, then as I looked up I saw the mirror and the angle, lighting and pose was great, so I decided I needed to capture that moment in time...

Editing

I did a little mainly adjust levels, sometimes I do a little smoothing as required but as little as possible.

In my camera bag

In my bag you will find my 1DX, mainly prime lens (50mm, 85mm) and a 28-300mm just in case. I also carry a AD200 pro and tripod too.

Feedback

I find the that amazing images come from capturing the moment when inspiration strikes, especially if people are smiling. But never be to precious about a concept that you miss the magic in front of you. Plan your shoot but go with the flow too.
