This shot of a beautiful sunset afterglow at Porth Nanven, Cot Valley, St Just, was taken moments after the cover photo for my "2021 Cornwall Calendar!"
**Calendar update: It's available to pre-order now. I'm now working with the printers to fine-tune colour representation**
The few photographers still on the beach after sunset at this photography hot spot were treated to an amazing pink sky.
On this day, the sky tones weren't excessively bright - so no filters were needed to control the light. An ND Grad filter with this composition would have darkened the top of the rock in the mid-ground, which wouldn't have been ideal.
The fading light allowed a slow shutter speed of 1 second, again without a Neutral Density filter. In fact, I had to dial the ISO up a little in order to maintain a narrow aperture to f16 for front-to-back sharpness.
Canon 6D MkII | 24-105mm lens at 35mm | ƒ-16 | 1 sec | ISO 320 | Tripod | No filters | Taken 14-07-2020 at Porth Nanven
