I took this photo at Stonehill River lodge. I went on a nature walk on the farm and spotted a heard of Zebras grazing in the field. I wanted to get as close as possible and walked very slowly towards them. All they did was look at me...Time
I went on a walk the afternoon of 22 January 2020 from about 16:00 to 18:00 on Stonehill River Lodge. It was raining the whole day and from just after 15:00 it stopped and I took a chance. The photo was taken at 17:03. I just love this time of day to take photos.Lighting
I did not use any lighting equipment. Just mother nature's natural light.Equipment
This photo was shot with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II, with my Canon Zoom lens EF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS. I did not use any other equipment.Inspiration
I love wildlife photography, but living in the makes it difficult to do so on a regular basis. When we decided to go to Stonehill River lodge I was very happy to find out that they have wildlife on the farm. While walking I was looking in all directions to see if I could spot any wildlife. I was so happy when I spotted the Zebras. The long grass and the fact that I am not that tall worked in my favor and I got the shot of the Zebras through the grass.Editing
I am not a big fan of post-processing but I did do a little work. I always shoot in RAW so I opened my file in Photoshop Camera RAW and went to lens correction and enabled lens profile correction. Otherwise, the photo was perfect for me. I loved the colors and did not want to change anything more. I converted it to jpg and just sharpened a little bit.In my camera bag
I have my Canon EOS 500, 7D, and 7D Mark II camera bodies in my bag. Lenses my trusty Canon Zoom lens EF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS; Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS STM; Canon EF-S 10-18mm 1:4.5-5.6 IS STM and my Canon 50mm 1:1.8 STM. Tamaron polarising filter. A lot of CF cards and SD cards. 580EX II Speedlite and a diffuser. I always carry a notebook and my Leatherman multi-tool with me.Feedback
Every photo has its own challenges. My advice will be to be patient, move around a lot, and try different angles. Always be aware of your surroundings and be prepared at any moment. The most important advice of all is to know your camera.
