The male has a bright sky-blue thorax, head and eyes, with black stripes on the dorsal side of the synthorax. The abdomen is black and blue. Segments eight and nine are entirely blue and the black band at the apex of segments eight and nine is broader than in P. australasiae. The superior appendages are as long as segment ten. The female is light brown with obscure greenish markings.
