This species is very similar to Pseudagrion australasiae. In males, the hindwing is 16 to 18 mm long and the total body length ranges from 30 to 34 mm. The male has a bright sky-blue thorax, head and eyes, with black stripes on the dorsal side of the synthorax. The abdomen is black and blue. Segments eight and nine are entirely blue and the black band at the apex of segments eight and nine is broader than in P. australasiae. The superior appendages are as long as segment ten. The female is light brown with obscure greenish markings.
