It is rare to find a sunset on the Oregon Coast, but when they happen, they are a sight to behold. The marine layer can prevent sunsets at any given time and dreary overcast days seem to be more frequent, though I love that type of weather. I found myself to by lucky on this day and with this shot. Climbing on these jagged rocks, that are wet and slippery, is a practice in sanity. One slip of the foot and down you may go. The other hazard to be weary of is the ocean itself. Is the tide coming in or is the tide going out? Vigilance pays off, as rogue waves can happen at any given time. To be knocked off a rock by one of these waves can be downright dangerous, if not life threatening.
I find comfort and solace near the ocean. 2019 was a rough year, professionally and personally. It is nice to be at the coast and reflect on what was, what is and what is to come in new year. There is something therapeutic about crashing waves, winds in the face and the sound of seagulls soaring above. My hopes for a better year, have started with this last trip to the coast.
