This photo was taken in Carrasqueira, Portugal. I'm Portuguese but I don't live in Portugal for many years already so shooting in Portugal is always great but it is hard, due to the limit amount of time I have for friends and family, photography usually comes in last.Time
This photo was captured at sunset, me and a friend checked the weather and decided to go there, I have been there a few years before but the light wasn't right.Lighting
I wanted a photo at sunset or blue hour, blue hour is one of my favorite times of the day to photograph, but in the specific case the clouds looked just right during sunset so I decided to use that image, a lot of times you have good sunsets but without any clouds, I like to have a mix of both.Equipment
I used a Sony A7RIV with a Sony 16-35 f2.8 lens, an ND medium grad from Fomatt Hitech was used and also a Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
This place is very nice and I had visited it many years back, but I did it during the day and I loved how the peers look and how all the scenery just works together, many of the boards on the ground have been replaced with new ones taking a lot of beauty to this place but some of the peers remained untouched, I believe very soon this place will look different due to the replacement of the peers.Editing
I did very little post-processing because I used an ND medium grad this is one single frame, I did brighten up a few areas, but took me may be no more than 2 or 3 minutes to come to the final result. In my camera bag
I usually have a Sony a7rIV and a7III, my favourite go-to lens is a Sony 16-35 f2.8 lens, but I also always carry the sony 24-70, the Sony 70-200 and also the laowa 12mm, the laowa sometimes status at home but if space is not an issue I always bring it along.Feedback
Be patient and keep trying, long exposure photography is an art on itself, but trial and error will be the key to success, bring a tripod and if you don't have any filters sunrise/sunset/blue hour will be the best times for you to play around and get similar results.
