Location
This photo was taken in a small park in my hometown. It is a block away from the schools I attended for grammar school and high school, and it is adjacent to the Wilder Mansion, the former library for our community. Wilder Park has a small playground for children, and a large grassy area for picnics and family gatherings. There is a beautiful garden on the property of the Wilder Mansion. There is also a greenhouse nearby, and a small memorial area dedicated to those who have served in the armed forces.Time
I took this photograph in the early evening while taking a short nature walk after work.Lighting
The day had been partly cloudy and the sun was beginning to set.Equipment
I use a Canon Rebel T5 EOS camera with a Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO All-In-One Zoom lens, Model B016.Inspiration
When I go on nature walks, I feel as though I am on a scavenger hunt for unique and interesting aspects of nature on which I can focus my lens. I saw this pretty flower, and I experimented with different camera settings and angles until I found the shot that I found most pleasing.Editing
I do not do any post-processing. I prefer a more natural appearance for my photographs. In my camera bag
I try to keep my camera bag pretty light. I usually carry my camera, a gray screen to customize the light balance, and my lens cap, of course!Feedback
When I go on nature hikes, I usually travel alone, so I don't feel the pressure of having someone waiting on me. I also make sure I have plenty of time available, so I can wander around, find objects of interest, and take dozens of different shots of those things, exploring a variety of different camera settings and angles. I'm not a morning person, so I haven't yet been able to capture nature as the sun rises over the horizon, but I enjoy the light and shadows of a late afternoon or early evening.
