Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken looking east from my front yard in Arizona years ago. Both the tree and the hill in the distance are gone now.

Time

My favorite times to shoot are sunrises and sunsets. In our area we get some spectacular images of both especially during the monsoons and winter. This was taken about daybreak in January 2014, we had a storm the night before and the colors were a rich golden. Truly the golden hour of the day.

Lighting

When shooting landscapes, sunsets and sunrises (mainly what I shoot) I rely on Mother Nature to provide the perfect lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with my old Fuji FinePix S4400 camera that is no longer working. It served me well for over a dozen years. The "tripod" was my fence post to steady the camera.

Inspiration

Inspiration? What isn't inspiring about a golden sunrise? On this morning I let my dogs out in the front yard to run for a bit and this was my greeting. I supply the camera and God supplies the beauty. Simple as that.

Editing

Usually I run the pictures through to enhance the colors or bring out certain features with this one there is no post-processing.

In my camera bag

At the time of the photograph I had only my FinePix S4400. Now I have my Fuji x_t100 and two lenses I use.

Feedback

Expect the unexpected! Watch the weather and make notes of how each morning after is. Never leave home or go anywhere without your camera. Sunrises and sunsets are daily events so plan to get into an area of unobtrusive view or like this shot a tree for framing. I always check to see the sunset and sunrise times as well as the moonrise/moonset times so I can be ready to capture the perfect shot.
