Location
I took this photo just out from my parents cabin in Northern Alberta, Canada. We had just been hiding out inside away from this torrential downpour when within minutes of the rain passing this double rainbow appeared, so of course we jumped into our canoes and started chasing the pot of gold on the other end!Time
I honestly can't remember the time of day, it was on vacation at the cabin so time didn't seem to have much effect.Lighting
This was honestly just one of those lucky shots. I love shooting storms because the lighting can be so dramatic, but you can't really control what the clouds are gonna do, so you just have to go out and chase every storm you can and hope that colors are really going to pop!Equipment
Taken on a Canon 6d with a Canon 17-40 f4 lens.Inspiration
I grew up paddling along these shores so doesn't take much inspiration to go out and photograph my childhood playgrounds.Editing
I did, I used lightroom to help bring out the orange glow to the left of the paddler and bring out the shadows in the trees. But other than that it is all just basic editing. In my camera bag
In this case all I had was my camera and lens, I accidentally left most of my gear at my place in Vancouver. But generally speaking I have 2 wide angle lenses, a standard zoom lens, a large variety of filters, tripod, remote, 5 batteries, flash, headlamps, and a few different colored jackets.Feedback
Just be patient. Photographing rainbows and storms is a fickle thing. I've gone out and shot many storms and more than half the time I come back and I feel the shots didn't do ot justice. Just keep trying and enjoy the experience while you're out there!
