Location
I joined a friend last minute for a nine day trip to the Canadian Rockies in the summer of 2019.Time
After scouting out a few spots for an early sunrise shoot, we were walking back to the car and came across this bear in the afternoon eating berries near the lake. Being very mindful about beautiful animal, we kept our distance and waiting for it to move on after some minutes.Lighting
I was south of the bear as it was facing the afternoon sun,Equipment
I had my Sony a9 with the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS E-Mount Lens, and a 2x Teleconverter mounting on a gimbal would allowed for me to setup very quickly.Inspiration
I was scouting for a landscape shot, but glad I choose this combo. I was hoping to catch an eagle or other bird of prey.Editing
I used Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
I normally will carry with me my Sony a7riii and A9 bodies along with: Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Lens Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM E-Mount Lens Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS E-Mount Lens Sony teleconverters 1.4 & 2.0 Sony External Flash (HVLF60RM) Peak Design carbon fiber Tripod and/ or Sirui carbon fiber gimbal and tripod F-Stop Tilopa camera bagFeedback
Be careful! As exciting as it is to get clicks like this, it better to be able to tell the tale the next days. I find the the AF on the Sony a9 to be laser fast and sharp, which enables you to work on composition and settings.
