Great shot. Judging from most of the entries I don't think many people know what the word Candid means. :-)

Congratulations, Alex, your image is winner of my challenge, It Tells A Story. This challenge was a hard one for me to pick a winner with about 2000 fantastic entries but, in the end, your candid capture of this event told a story that needed to be told. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

Location
In Summer 2019, in Moscow, Russia, there had to be municipal elections. Opposition decided to break the United Russia pro-Putin party's monopoly and lead by the opposition leader Alexey Navalny started Smart Voting campaign: To nominate any decent candidates except the United Russia's. Still, the mayor's office commanded criminally not to register the Smart Voting candidates. July, 27, people went into the streets and were pushed away from the Mayor's Office into nearby side streets. I found myself between a part of the demonstrators in Bryusov lane confronting the riot police unit and the protesters. From time to time I felt as if the two lines will crash me and my camera which I kept above my head.Time
This was about 4 or 5 pm and the sun shined along the lane from behind the demonstrators and into the police eyes.Lighting
I couldn't think about my shutter speed, aperture, etc. Fortunately, I managed to switch the camera into AUTO mode and it worked.Equipment
Sony SLT-A58 and SONY 18-55mm f3.5-5.6. No tripod, no flashInspiration
For several months I went to shoot the opposition meetings and made a series "Faces Of The Protests". I really loved those people with open and smart faces who didn't look like the ones in the power. Since June, 2019 they went into the streets to show their strong intention to have the honest election.Editing
Yes, I post-processed this picture in Lightroom to make it more dramatic. In my camera bag
Now, I put in my photo bag pack my new camera Sony 6400 with several Sony and Canon lenses, especially when I go to shoot architecture or landscape.Feedback
Don't be afraid of finding yourself in the mess.
