Location
I was on a bus tour of the Irish Countryside. The driver stopped along the side of the road so we could take some photos and a storm was coming in.Time
This was around 4:30 in the afternoon.Lighting
Luckily, this was lit naturally, with the clouds diffusing light enough to give the shot intensity in the background while the foreground popped with some direct sunlight.Equipment
Nikon D3300Inspiration
It was just perfect timing to stop, and I wanted to capture the beautiful landscape of Ireland and the ever-changing weather they experience.Editing
I loaded the raw photo into Lightroom, darkened the background slightly, and intensified the highlights slightly to bring the greens and blues out of the sky and grass and I applied a matte preset to make the photo a bit more moody and accentuate the impending storm. In my camera bag
Nikon D3300, manfrotto monopod, aputure handheld light, Variable ND filter, a Nikon lens pen for fine particles, extra batteries and extra memory cards.Feedback
Just keep shooting, never delete in camera, and always shoot RAW. You never know what detail is hiding in a photo until you upload the RAW file onto your computer and start editing the photo. The LCD display fools me 50% of the time, and if you continue to delete photos you think are bad in camera, you never know what amazing shots you could be missing out on.
