Many times, when asked to come take photos of a client's horse, I'm not always able to take them when it is the most advantageous for the color of the horse!
This was a black horse, that the client wanted to get photos of, but the only time available was high noon. (ugh!) That is nearly impossible to get fabulous definition of muscle, or the sparkle in the eye to show expression in a horse that is black! High noon puts the sun right above you! It's much better to shoot at 8am on a black horse! Then you can catch all the muscle definition and even the veins will pop out, and you'll even be able to see the eyelashes on a head shot .. complete with that sunlight twinkle in the eye.
Anyhow, as expected, the photos turned out looking almost flat black. I had to take this one original into photoshop and play around with it, to see if I could salvage what was a half way decent shot.
What came out.. was quite dramatic. It's gotten rave reviews.. and it was frankly, a shot most folks would have tossed in the laptop trashcan... unless... you know how to make lemonade.. out of lemons! :)
