Location
This was taken at a pond in Lincolnshire, UK, using flash.Time
I stayed in a hide overlooking a pond from 5PM to 10AM!! Tough to keep awake all night, but when the otters came in it was a pleasure to see them.Lighting
We had 4 flashes set up around the pond, and could control weather to use them all or not. I was experimenting with backlight etc, but difficult as we had about 4 visits in the night, of about 2 mins each!!Equipment
Canon 1DX, 300mm F4.Inspiration
I love wildlife and to see a nocturnal creature going about his business was great.Editing
Not much, a crop and some lighting tweaks. In my camera bag
Canon 1DZ, Canon EOS R. Generally a 500mm F4 with a 1.4 converter, 100-400 and 24-105 lenses. A tripod and gimbal head (Although Im doing a lot more hand held now) 430 speed light and some remote triggers.Feedback
Patience! Also keep checking settings so that when the subject does appear for a brief moment you are ready. Also, breath, as you can be tempted to hold your breath and then start shaking when you see something wonderfull in your lens, so breath and get the shots!
