Location
This shot is was taken at Castlepoint in New Zealand. Castlepoint is magnificent piece of scenery and a famous lighthouse, maybe the most famous one in New Zealand.Time
We hit the road in the morning from Wellington and had lunch before exploring the place. This moment was in the afternoon when we decided to climb the rock in front of us to see the whole lagoon and lighthouse from above.Lighting
Usually I prefer darker shots but what I love about this one is the brightness and softness. The light wasn't to hard and I exposed it brighter to avoid vignetting.Equipment
I clicked this shot with my Sony alpha 7S II and my Canon 24-70mm f4.Inspiration
As I was travelling New Zealand I had the idea of a series of photos where my hand would be in focus, showing a beautiful landscape out of focus in the background. The idea was to show my wonderment in front of so much beauty. Some places in New Zealand are so iconic than even out of focus you can recognize the spot which is an interesting thing for this sereis of photos.Editing
The post precessing here is very light, I just enhanced a little bit the shot by playing with contrast, hilights and shadows, and desaturated it a bit.In my camera bag
I have a Sony a7S II camera with a CANON 24-70mm f4, a SAMYANG 14mm f2.8, a SIGMA 150-600mm f5-6.3 and a CANON 50mm f1.8. I also have an Helios 44-2 58mm f2 lens made in USSR. And a Pola filter.Feedback
When I'm shooting landscapes, and even more when I'm shooting famous landscapes that a lot of people can recognize I try to find something to put in the foreground as a subject to make the shot different and unique. Sometimes just a part of yourself can be the thing. When you find a subject in the foreground you are telling a multi layer story, you adding depth of field and you're giving to see the place like people are not used to see it.
