Location
I took this photograph of my girlfriend in our little home town Kotoriba, which is located in northern Croatia.Time
It was on a warm autumn day, during golden hour. I personally think that autumn is the best season for taking photographs because of all the colours. Even before I started photography, I always adored autumn because of all the inspiration it provided me with. The exact time and date is the September 25th, 2018 at 17:34.Lighting
The light was just illuminating her beautifully from the side, and because the light was also reflected from the lake, it was even more beautiful. And since it was golden hour, the light was soft and warm, giving a warmer feeling to this warm early autumn evening.Equipment
I took this photo with a Nikon D750 and Nikkor 50mm 1.4gInspiration
I wanted to get a reflection in the water, but there was too much grass growing out of it. But even though I failed to get the reflection, I loved the photo because of the lighting and colours and I wanted to capture those care free days by the lake.Editing
For this photo i used Lightroom for the colour grading and Photoshop to correct her dress which was unfortunately looking weird in this shot and for dodging and burning. In my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon D750 with the Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 and the Nikkor 50mm 1.4g, a spare Nikon d3300 with the kit lens Nikkor 18-55mm 3.5-5.6. I have a couple of ND filters and CPL filters. The Nikon SB900 flash or a really small tripod, depends on the kind of photography I'm doing at that moment. I also almost always carry my Giottos tripod.Feedback
The most important thing is to capture a moment that reflects the feelings you were feeling at that moment. You have to make a decision on where to position your subject because of the light. I love backlit photos, but it's not always the best choice, like in this situation. I also wanted to blur the grass in the foreground and the background so I shot it at a wide open aperture. It's also important to shot during golden hour.
