Location
I took this picture in the very heart of the Dolomites, probably one of the most famous spots among these magnificent mountains - Drei Zinnen, or “Tre Cime di Lavaredo”Time
Probably it was around midnight. I spent the night there, waiting for the best situation...I had the chance to be there when Mars was bright and right above the middle peakLighting
There was no moon, and the night wasn’t particularly clear. I was able to photograph only until half past midnight because later the sky got cloudyEquipment
I used a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 14-24 f/2.8. And a tripod, of courseInspiration
I always wanted to take a picture of this iconic place...I had the chance to be there, it was truly wonderfulEditing
Of course, but this is a single shot. I reduced the noise and worked on the milky way...but everything is pretty simple in this picture. What you see is what you getIn my camera bag
When I go among the mountains I bring with me my Nikon D750, a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 and a Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8. Obviously a tripod and a remote control for shooting in mirror lock-up mode. Then a head light, and something warm to wear during the cold hours of nightFeedback
Plan! It’s very important to plan your image, starting from the location and the moment for capturing the best light...then, when it’s about landscapes - above all mountains - you should be able to improvise, ‘cause the weather could always change. But above all have fun and enjoy the places you are in with your own eyes...
