It was "Che" photostudio in Ryazan of which I co-owned at the time.Time
I don't actually remember when I shot this — it was about evening, but we were in studio, so that didn't matter.Lighting
That were the times, when I never let go of my portrait dish (RIP). I was (and am) a really big fan of Baroque art, and the dish is a really great means to achieve that mysterious effect that Rembrandt van Rijn and his disciples created. So this was created with a dish only.Equipment
I was using my old Nikon D7000 then, a Godox flash and black paper background.Inspiration
Valeria (or just Lera) is one of my favorite models, and we work together really often. But this photo is one of our first shootings ever. I've got some vintage dresses then and needed a model to try them on, so I called the "Legacy" model agency and asked for a favour :). They gave me Lera's contact, and she was really eager to do it, and even found a makeup/hair artist herself to match the scene.Editing
I did some frequency separation to clear the skin, but I was really careful, 'cause Lera's skin looks really great and doesn't need much retouching, so I just made some not many strokes to keep the natural texture and MUAH work as much intact as possible. In my camera bag
Now I always carry my Nikon D810 (chose it for ISO64) and Tamron 2.8/28-75. This couple is enough in most cases I need them :)Feedback
If you like Baroque as I do, try not using many light sources, but instead use a few and feel the way they work to deeply understand it.
