Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken in an urban park in Milan, it was an event organized for young photographer. There were 5 models and every group of photographers had 30 minutes with every of them, in a rotation. It was mid autumn and the leaves were turning red and yellow.

Time

It was in the afternoon

Lighting

I've used only natural light, which i prefer. Usually i prefer to move myself and make the model pose in a way to exalt the natural light around, for the perfect natural scene.

Equipment

In that specific time i used my Nikon d800 and a 28/85 which allows me to get in the scene, being near the model but without being intrusive. I din't use the flash or other light, because i was looking for natural scene and the perfect match between models and the foliage around. Moreover i always prefer not to use tripod when i take portraits, to be perfect able to move with the scene and what happen around.

Inspiration

I was looking for the perfect integration of the human being in the nature

Editing

I've done just a basic retouch of lights, shadows and contrast.

In my camera bag

I always have a fixed focal lenght lens, a 28mm for the landscape. A more versatile 28-85 and a zoom. I work with a nikon D800 and a gopro. I always try to be as light as possible to improve the ability of observer and to facilitate movements.

Feedback

When working with model, always try to empathize and explain what do you imagine of the results. I think portraits and modeling need to be a teamwork. If you're able to explain yourself and listen to the other, that's how the magic happens!
