Location
This picture was taken in Ingel district of Herat province in the Western Afghanistan. The subject was the Gardener of our host who had invited us to his Orchard for lunch.Time
This photography was taken in the afternoon at around 5pmLighting
The light was totally natural, I picked a spot that was partially in the shade. This gave me a nice contrast between the two sides of my subjects face.Equipment
I shot this picture with a Fujifilm XT-2 and a 90mm F2 lens at maximum aperture.Inspiration
I have been shooting a series of portraits for an up coming exhibition covering the Afghan Ethnicities. When I saw this young man, I thought he would be perfect for this project. He was very nervous in front of the camera and I only managed to take 3 or 4 shots, as I was looking at my subject through the viewfinder, I knew I was about to take a special shot!Editing
I just converted the RAW image into Black and white and adjusted the contrast etc. In Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
Fujifilm XT-2, 23mm 1.2, 90mm F2Feedback
Simple camera set up. Body with a portrait lens, the longer the better and natural light in the shade.
