JMT DAY 3 - BANNER PEAK AT SUNRISE
Banner Peak at sunrise: JMT201803002
Morning arrived at Island Pass. It was still dark and chilly when I got out of my tent. I surveyed the area quickly with my camera gear over my shoulder and eventually decided to go back to the spot where I had captured the Milky Way and its reflections in the water the night before. Unlike last mid-June when I camped here, the view of Banner Peak was less obstructed by the trees, so it was easier to compose a shot that I wanted.
The water was calm, almost mirror like, which promised a clear reflection of the peak and the glow that would be cast on it. Part of me wished though that a bit of clouds in the sky would have added a bit more texture and colors to the shot that I was composing, but the thought quickly left me as soon as the sky started getting permeated in subtle blue and pink hues, one of my favorite moments of a day - Earth’s Shadow.
As it slowly subsided, the peak started getting rather rapidly perfused in faint pink glow and soon light orange. And then it started glowing in bright orange and red.
As expected. And it was beautiful.
