The dunes of Namibia are a true spectacle. They are among the highest in the world; many of them are more than 200 meters high. The two highest have the nicknames Big Daddy and Dune 7, which are respectively 325 and 388 meters high. In addition to the size of the dunes, their color is also exceptional; they can vary from a lively pink to orange. Their color is due to a high concentration of iron in the sand, which has been oxidized over the years. The oldest dunes are those with an intense reddish color.

Another characteristic of old dunes is that the sand they consisted of has solidified into stone. So you do not have to hurry if you still want to visit these dunes, they are not going anywhere.
