This image is part of a Photographic Project named ARCANA made by the Venezuelan Photographer: María Laura Barrios @resenartemlaura, inspired by her look for Knowledge in relation to a philosophical understanding of Tarot. It introduces a scenic sequence of the Temperance Arcane and it was inspired by the Spanish Artist, Illustrator Luis Royo @luisroyoofficial . Additionally, it has been made under the Assisted Portrait Photographic Technique, so María Laura performed as "He" together with the Venezuelan Theater Actress and Model: Brenda Moreno @brendasme as "She" in order to express diverse complexity of role characterization.

Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Caracas, Venezuela by the year 2018... Difficult times for a nation that is still trying to recover its freedom. I counted on the help of the actress Brenda Moreno and the filmaker and producer Elis Blanco who also made an incredible job as a MUA. Right at the top of her appartment where caos and disaster seems to look different thanks to the development of creative processes, Elis found the perfect spot for what it could have looked as the perfect background on these scene: A photographic representation on one of Luis Royo´s illustration books - PROHIBITED. Time

Everything started very early morning, around 7:00 a.m. on a sunday... apart from this picture, other three were also in the agenda to be produced the same day... this one was the last one, at about 5:00 p.m.

Lighting

Lighting was not so much of an issue, since the environment provided enough... no special equipment was used for it.

Equipment

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 16 mpx. Lense: 18- 50 mm That´s all... The idea was to emphasize the power of acting and reproduction of the illustration by making use simple elements.

Inspiration

First of all, to make it part of my series ARCANA, since the whole is about Tarot as an oracle of awareness and dramatic changes. Second, Luis Royo has been very well-known, not only as an illustrator but as a Tarot designer and his works have always amazed me deeply... So I found this as a nice idea to gather all these issues in one shot...

Editing

I did, just a bit of adjustments in the original values of saturation.

In my camera bag

I normally have a cannon EOS Rebel, either T3i or T7i... but I would like to make it a little bit more varied and adjusted to Scenic Photography... not all the time you have that light generosity in scenes...

Feedback

Just passion... discipline and... don´t think too much, just do it.
