This is on the Rio De Oro Mexico...
If your ever out this neck of the woods, get here.. River to ocean in a paradise.. Crystal clear waters, awesome drops and amazing scenery.
Also there is an old timer there called Ferdinand who will get you every where you need to be. He owns a shack on the beach you paddle on to from the river and does amazing chicken - prawns and cold sports beverages.

Location
This photo was taken in Mexico on the Rio De Oro. The Rio De Oro is set in the Veracruz area of Mexico and is in an amazing setting. It is possible to paddle this river directly to the sea where a beautiful beach awaits. A local guide by the name of Fernando will ensure all your needs are catered for, this guy does not wear shoes and is an old school farm type fellow who lives a simple but fulfilling life, and who couldn't in should beautiful surroundings. The river flows through an amazing gorge, where the water is crystal clear. This drop is one of three on the riverTime
This photo was taken mid to late afternoon. There was a fair walk up to the get on , and it was a hot sunny day. The walk up was very peaceful and scenic, passing a nest of biting army ants.Lighting
The lighting is all natural sunlight shining down in to the gorge on the top if the drop. However, not much sunlight shin in the bottom of the gorge creating a nice contrast between the top of the drop and the bottom.Equipment
The camera was a Nikon D90 and the 80-200mm lens. No tripod or flash required as I was able to use the natural light to frame the shot.Inspiration
I love kayaking, and there was no way on earth I was not going to capture this river.. Still in my memory today, I lived the natural window effect from the leaves. It is as though you are looking in to something special.Editing
A little bit of Lightroom action to knock down the highlights and bring up the shadows to even out the photo slightly. In my camera bag
Normally walk around with a Nikon D800e now and a 50mm F1.8. Sometime carry the 105mm, or 80-200mm to change things up. if I am out with all my kit I will have the above, with a tripod Nikon SB600 flash and a 28mm f2.8, and Samyang 14mm F2.8.Feedback
You just have to look aroud and see what angles you can access to get a good view of the whole of the drop. I like things centred, so sometimes can be difficult. A polarising filter is good idea. I didn't have it on this photo and I think it would have made the world of difference.
