Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the gardens of Trinity Heights in Sioux City, Iowa. It was early spring and the birds were migrating. So many different birds it was an amazing day to be in the gardens. The Cedar Wax Wings especially loved the berries on the trees and appeared so hungry they didn't mind anyone getting close to them.

Time

Honestly, I can't remember if it was morning or later in the afternoon but I do remember it being one of the best early spring days with beautiful weather.

Lighting

The lighting was soft and yet bright enough to help with getting clear and crisp pictures and a gorgeous day to be outside.

Equipment

I used my Canon 80D and telephoto lens (EFS 55-250mm). No tripod and no flash was needed.

Inspiration

I have a love for nature, wildlife, and birds. I feel at ease there and I can always find beauty and inspiration there.

Editing

I use Lightroom for post processing and usually just enough to enhance the beauty but not change it.

In my camera bag

What I carry in my bag includes three lenses (a prime, a telephoto, and a macro), filters, extra batteries, and lens cleaning items. Also, have a reference guide and the manual to my camera to help with stepping out of my comfort zone.

Feedback

I feel anything with nature it helps to have patience, awareness, and creativity. Step out of the box and look for a new perspective or just let nature do it's thing and be present for that chance of one in a million.
