While working at the Guthrie, OK. airport, I spotted this beautiful Stearman and made a point of capturing a few images while I was there.Time
Mid afternoon on August 22, 2006.Lighting
The natural sunlight was quite harsh with deep shadows. Not ideal but I wanted a photo.Equipment
As I was on a work assignment, I only carried an Olympus C2040Z pocket camera, which I generally utilized to record work in progress. I wished I would have had my current Nikon Z to capture this photo, but alas, that is wishful thinking. The photo was a very low resolution .jpg imageInspiration
I love seeing vintage aircraft, especially one as well cared for and beautiful as this example. How could nyou not want to take a photo of such a work of art.Editing
The original low resolution image was duplicted in Photoshop with the one image inversed to create an Infrared appearance and the second image matted to show only the propeller. The image layers were then joined into the result. Some adjustments to contast and color were utilized to try and accentuate the combined photo. In my camera bag
My go to camera is now a Nikon Z6 and it is usually fitted with a 105 Micro Nikor lens, as I enjoy shooting close ups.Feedback
The inversion technique in Photoshop is one worth playing around with if you have never tried. Itvwas my way of tring to create an IR looking image. That in combination with the creative filters offered in Photoshop, could lead to many hours of fun photograpy.
