It doesn't. It has pictures of Yosemite because that's the theme of the operating system.

Location
This photo was taken in a very popular spot in Yosemite National Park called Tunnel View. What you can’t see is the crowd of photographers to my right, left and even below me. Don’t let it out you off shooting there though. There’s a reason it’s popular, it’s a breath taking view.Time
I shot this right in the middle of golden hour (just before sunset) as I wanted the reddish light of the sun to hit El Capitan in particular. If I’d shot this at dawn I would have likely been shooting into the sun instead.Lighting
I used the photographers ephemeris to figure out where the sunset rays would hit and decided that at that time of year (February) I’d get the sunset hitting El Capitan but the sunrise wouldn’t result in anything being lit in the same way. So I opted for sunset.Equipment
I used a canon 5D Mark IV, 17-40mm F4 L lens, and a soft graduated ND filter from HiTech.Inspiration
Short answer: Ansel Adams. I’ve been to Yosemite several times and tried this shot with dismal results. It’s all about timing (and planning) to get the right light.Editing
Yes. I brought up the shadows in the foreground and brought down the highlights in the sky to show more contrast in the clouds. In my camera bag
My canon 5D Mark IV, my 17-40mm F4 L, my nifty fifty, a cable release, my HiTech filter. I only have one. I also use the Manfroto travel tripod.Feedback
Do a bit of planning. Try using a tool like the Photographer Ephemeris to see where the light will fall and get a good polarizer and graduated ND from someone like HiTech.
