Location
I took this photo at the end of my shoot as the sun was going down over Asheville, North Carolina.Time
This was captured right at sunset.Lighting
There was definitely something special about the lighting that evening. Summer was nearly over and it was one of the first days that you recognize that fall was upon us. We all know that feeling. The air is cool and crisp and the evening sky even looks different. The sunset that day provided the perfect lighting for the type of shoot I was doing.Equipment
I have a mix of both Canon and Nikon equipment that I use on location. I can’t remember exactly which I used for this particular shot off the top of my head.Inspiration
I’d have to say it was exactly what I mentioned before. That end of summer, cool nights, want to gather around a bonfire with your friends kind of feeling in the air.Editing
I did a little retouching on this one. Not much though. I brightened it up a bit and brought out her eyes as that was her main feature I focused on here.In my camera bag
Typically a mix of both Nikon and Canon equipment. A few lenses, flash, extra batteries for both. And a hair tie.Feedback
Low lighting can be tricky. My advice is to just practice. Practice with your settings at low light. Have a friend model for you. Use your flash and then switch to no flash to see what you can do with any available natural light possible. I always prefer natural light. But it took a lot of trial and error with my camera before I became comfortable in that type of environment.
