Great Shot

Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken as I lay in bed with my baby being cradled in my lap.Time
This was taken in the morning when the sun was low, and we were still resting in bedLighting
I was facing the window which gave a great bright single light source. I underexposed the shot as much as I could (about 4 stops down) to take advantage of the strong light source and darken the majority of the frameEquipment
This picture was taken he d held using my old iPhone because it was all I had to hand to take the shot without moving.Inspiration
This was one of those “I can see the shot so I’m going to take it” momentsEditing
I used my phones built in editing tools to make the picture monochrome, and increased the black point slightly to darken the background a little moreIn my camera bag
I have a large chest full of gear with 3 pre-packed kit bags containing various cameras, lenses and other bits to suit whatever pictures I am going out to take, so I can quickly grab a bag (or 2) and go. Ultra important to be able to go quickly if running out for a last minute photoshoot or news callFeedback
Look for strong light sources, and don’t be afraid to underexpose your shots
