Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo near my home, in the beautiful valley of Covola, in Gallio, Veneto, Italy. It's a special and unique place, because is the only place in the Asiago plateau with a massive quantity of water during all the year.

Time

It was the time of the sunset, at 6:00 pm, the perfect time for the silk effect.

Lighting

I waited for the perfect light, because I didn't use filters, so the light had to be not too much to not burn the photo.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3300, with the 18-55mm base lens. I used also a tripod, but not of a famous firm. I didn't use filters.

Inspiration

I've always loved the beautiful Valley of Covola, and with the new tripod I decided to take a photo with silk effect in one of the best place of the Asiago plateau. The weather and light were perfect, so I took 3/4 pics and they was perfect. If you visit the Asiago plateau is a place you've to see.

Editing

Yess, I used Lightroom to post-processing the photo. I used it to calibrate the high lights and shadows, a little bit of definition, and I changed a little bit the color of water, that was too blue I think, so I set it to a real white.

In my camera bag

i have my Nikon D3300, 18-55mm base lens, 14mm Samyang for the night shoot, and a Tamron 70-300mm VC USD.

Feedback

If you have some filters it will be easier, if not you've to close the Diaframma to F16/18 and try to expose the photo to 1/10, 1/20 of second to arrive at a silk effect.
