Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken inside a restaurant. At first the owners did not let us in but then we got it.

Time

I do not remember the exact day but I know it was last year. It was in the afternoon, the sky was cloudy so I liked the soft light. It was a spontaneous photo and of my favorites nowadays.

Lighting

Well, I'm not an expert on lighting but I only used natural light. Then in editing I retouched the part of his face so that it would look more important. For if it were totally transparent, the sense would change. As I said, it was something totally improvised and at that moment I did not even think about playing with light at all.

Equipment

This photo was taken with a Canon 1200D, with an 18-55 mm. No other material, although right now I have a new lens.

Inspiration

At that time I was obsessed with reflexes, I think they are a good technique in photography. A while before I had gone through that restaurant, it caught my attention, especially when they hung Christmas lights. Just one afternoon I was walking with the model of the photo, it occurred to me, and that's how the photo came out. I did not notice any photographer or anything like that.

Editing

I just edited it as I usually do with the rest of my photos. I raised the white balance a little and also the contrast. Then I lowered the saturation a bit as the intensity increased and I added the cold tone.

In my camera bag

I do not have too much, I'm still not professional. In my backpack I carry the reflex, the normal lens and the new 50 mm for portrait. Also extra battery and some creative elements if I want to add them to the photos.

Feedback

I advise there is no strong light, better soft. Reflections should be appreciated. That the frame is something short, not general, thus you capture the attention of the spectator better. And be patient, in this creative technique, it is difficult to get anything else to start the result you want.
