Location
Tate City is a tiny community on the north end of the Tallulah River in northeast Georgia with a population of 32 +/-, according to their own sign.Time
This was shot around 1 PM.Lighting
The lighting of the sun on the trees behind the church that day was brilliant, not so much on the front porch of the church, which also serves as the Tate City Post Office, Government Building, and town meeting hall.Equipment
This was shot with a Fujifilm S200EXR. No tripod, flash, or filters.Inspiration
I was with two new friends the day I shot this. Both of them stood up to take their shots which focused on the face of the building. I saw the scene differently and chose to lay down in the grass and point my lens up the hill to include the beautiful color in the trees behind the church.Editing
I enhanced the color in the trees to make them pop and brightened up the porch of the building to bring it out of the dark shadows it was hidden in.In my camera bag
This shot was taken in 2015 I believe. Now I'm shooting with a Canon EOS RP. My go-to lens is my Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6. When a tripod is needed, I use a Vanguard AltaPro 263AT.Feedback
Change your perspective for a unique shot. The shot my friends achieved while standing up and zoomed in, cut out most of the uphill glance across the grass and the beautiful trees behind the building. When they saw the shot I achieved by laying down in the grass they both immediately laid down in the grass for their own shot, which they liked better than how they first shot the scene while standing up.
