All the time ive lived in the house i do now (over 20 years) i always thought these birds were only ever seen abroad..lol but the past 6 years (maybe more) they have now become a regular garden visitor, i used to buy niger seed for them and sunflower hearts for the sparrows and other birds, but nooooo the goldfinches wanted the sunflower hearts too and left the niger seen until the sunflower hearts had run out..lol so now i just buy sunflower hearts for everything that visits the garden to which they all seem happy with this arrangement.
