OBJECTIFICATION SERIES
Artist Statement

In one’s full life, many people tend to come and go if only for a fleeting moment. It becomes such a normal part of life, that sometimes you start to feel as if the individuality of each person becomes lost and they become objects. Someone becomes something that moves through your life with little to no connection between yourself and them. The objectification makes it easier on your personal life and it makes it easier to cope with any emotional distress between you and the individual. Although does creating this objectification of every person who moves through your life in that fleeting moment help you, but what does it do to that individual?

The series was created to make spectators see the individuals through the eyes of someone who views people as objects. There is no emotional connection and the person is merely seen as a thing rather than the individual personality that they are while their feeling, their history, their emotions, and what makes them amazing is disconnected. How many people have you objectified in your life?

The Living Doll Chapter

The living doll chapter in the objectification series focuses on living models used by the artist. The model is posed, dressed, and set where they are needed usually with a blank expression upon one’s face for the sake of art. Their emotions, their problems, their worries, their history is detached as they are asked to move from one pose to another completing the vision of someone else. Their visions hidden beneath the lights, glamour, and fabric behind the mask they show to the world. They become and embody the living doll.

DETAILS
Something a little different from what I usually do. I wanted to try a more contemporary piece, but most of it created with real life elements. The difference between this and most of the pieces in the past is I created-controlled most of the elements within the piece with the help of a few artistic friends due to the time crunch of one month to create 4 couture pieces, and the boxes they are posing within. It was created for a showcase based off an objectification series I am working on. This is the Living Doll chapter of that series. We submitted this to the RAW Artists Atlanta showcase with a couple of commercial pieces. I hope to add some film collections to the next showcase.

The next showcase will be based on my objectification series but have a chapter upon fallen angels combining the surrealism of Lost Paradise, the painting of Judgement Day, and the leveling of Dante’s Inferno. It will combine sculpture, pen art, and photography. We hope to have this one in Seattle, WA due to their strong music history or New York or LA.
