Location
This beautiful scenery is situated at Melchsee-Frutt, a winter sports area in the centre of Switzerland.Time
I took this photo in the evening, somewhere between sunset and nighttime, the so called blue hour.Lighting
The exposure of the photo is 30s. The long exposure smooths the sky and the small river.Equipment
For this photo I used my Canon 5d Mark II and the Canon 16-35 f4 lens. I also used a tripod, which is essential for long exposure photography.Inspiration
I walked around the area to check out locations for milky way photography later that night and found this small river meandering through the alpine pasture. The mountains in the background made the scenery perfect.Editing
My post-processing always consists of raw converting with Adobe Camera Raw. After that I use photoshop for further adjustments, for example to highlight the yellow flowers. In my camera bag
I always take my camera, the Canon 5D Mark IV and one or two lenses, mostly the Canon EF 16-35 f4 for landscape, with me. Additionally to the lens I use various neutral density and polar filters to control reflections and the effects of long exposures. And of course a tripod belongs to my basic equipment too.Feedback
Use good equipment, take your time to wait for the right moment and keep yourself up to date with raw editing.
