This past winter I tore my ACL and meniscus skiing. I normally spend my entire winter traveling the world for ski competitions. More than anything the feeling of routine was driving me crazy. As soon as I was off of crutches I left on a road trip with a couple of friends. At the end of the trip I camped alone in Alabama Hills, California, it happened to be almost exactly one year after I had climbed and skied from the top of Mt Whitney which lie in view of my campsite. It was humbling sitting at the base of the Eastern Sierras unable to do anything but watch them in wonder. It was also so motivating to get strong and healthy to be back doing the things I love.
