While deployed to the Western Pacific Ocean, my command and I were passing a nearby lightning storm over the water. I was new to photography at the time and didn't have the discipline I have now so it took me an hour and a half to take this picture of a lightning bolt. It was a very satisfying capture that I have not yet been able to duplicate.

How do you take a picture few others can take? Go places that are hard to get to. This was taken while on the pacific ocean. I really don't know where i was because i wasn't the one driving the boat.

Working on a military base has advantages. This was taken in San Diego during a long California dought and the Navy was called on to help fight the fires. Using pink and other stand out colors helps keep track of each other in the dense smoke.

Naval Air Station North Island has this rotating beacon on one of its oldest buildings that was built between the late 19th century and early 20th. T

This photo was taken soon after i bought my Sony model camera. The morning fog in San Diego over the Coronado bridge seemed like a fun idea at the time so i took a picture.
