Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was taken in Zadar in Croatia.Time
I was working on my cycling journey blog when I started seeing lightning at about 3 am. I decided to grab my camera and went down to the beach to check if anything could be worth being captured.Lighting
I took about 15 shots that night. The sky was very active in term of lightning. I also set up the camera in different locations along the beach. This shot was one of the bests since the lightning came out to be very aesthetic. The 3 layers of dense clouds give the image an even more dramatic aspect. Eventually, the storm got closer and it started raining heavily, I just had the time to go back to my apartment before it became quite violent.Equipment
I used an Olympus OMD EM 10 Mark 1. I just kept the lens open in the manual mode for maybe 45 seconds since that would be enough to catch the lightning. I travel light so no tripod, I just put the camera on the ground. The lens is nothing special, a Panasonic 12/45 similar the lens I got with the camera but that broke.Inspiration
The constant lightning going on didn't really let me any choice there. I had to go outside and witness this big sky show. I was alone and it really felt surreal.Editing
There is no processing in this picture. That how I got the shot at first! In my camera bag
Nothing more than the camera with the lens on it.Feedback
The only advice I could give is to go explore and not to be afraid to go out of your comfort zone, this is when the magic happens!
